Keynotes & Speaking — Amanda Anderson
The person you're not watching
People assume the person to worry about is the quiet one - the one who visibly struggles to speak up in meetings. That's usually not who's costing you the most.
Playing small isn't about volume, and it isn't only about challenging you. It shows up any time someone decides it's safer to hold back what they actually bring than to stand out with it - the instinct that says this won't work, the risk only their experience lets them see, the question they're uniquely placed to ask, the idea nobody else in the room could have had.
You can be loud, confident, even someone who regularly challenges the boss, and still be playing small everywhere else that matters.
Some of your best people do speak up. But notice where, and about what. Do they only challenge you? Do they say the same hard things to everyone else in the room, or just to the person it's safest to disagree with? And on the things that actually carry risk for them - do they still hold back?
The real question isn't "do I have someone who speaks up." It's: have you built a culture where everyone feels safe enough to bring what makes them genuinely useful.

Event FAQs
What formats does Amanda speak in?+
Keynotes, workshops, panels, podcasts and media. The format changes; the job doesn't - I say what's actually happening in the room out loud, instead of softening it to keep everyone comfortable.
How long is a keynote, and can it be tailored?+
Keynotes typically run 45-60 minutes plus Q&A, and every one is tailored - I'll talk to you beforehand about where playing small is showing up in your organisation, so the room hears their own patterns, not a generic talk. Each keynote also has a paired half-day or full-day workshop if you want the ideas to land as practice, not just insight.
Where is Amanda based, and does she travel?+
I'm based in Sydney, Australia, and speak across Australia and internationally - in person or virtual. Travel is quoted with the engagement, no surprises.
Is the content safe for a corporate audience? It sounds confronting.+
It's direct, not reckless. I've led global mental health for a major corporate and I work frontline crisis response - I know exactly where the line is between a room that's been challenged and a room that's been harmed. People leave seeing themselves more clearly, not picked apart.
How do I check availability and pricing?+
Tell me what you're planning through the contact page - the event, the audience, what you want to be different afterwards - and I'll come back to you myself with availability and a quote. Still deciding? A 15-minute call will tell you if this is right for your team.
